Lakes near Victoria BC – Spectacle Lake BC
Spectacle Lake Provincial Park is a 67 hectare piece of land in the Nanaimo Lowlands Ecosection area of Vancouver Island, 30km northwest of Victoria.
Spectacle Lake, a small lake with a 2km walkaround trail, is a great little lake to go swimming, kayaking, canoeing and / or fishing.
Aside from the main beach (don’t think “main” means big), a walking trail wraps around to reveal another two areas where people congregate for water-related activities (the area you can see in these images is the 3rd area along the trail). From the main beach, carry in boats can be launched.
As you can see from the pictures, lounging in inner tubes / on air mattresses is also popular on this lake.
There are many lakes near Victoria BC but Spectacle Lake is a bit quieter than some of the others. In addition to that, Spectacle Lake BC is the only lake on Vancouver Island where you can catch Eastern Brook Trout. Fishing in Spectacle Lake BC is usually pretty good as the lake is regularly stocked with Cutthroat Trout.
The British Columbia government website has more detailed information on their website about Spectacle Lake BC.
